After 10pm Central time on 09 Aug, my hosting provider, Dreamhost, claims that the file system for the Web site was experiencing errors and they would be running file system integrity checks/repairs. However, my confidence in their ability to not lose my pages when these check are done is low because of the May incident when the site was down for more than 2 days. If the downtime becomes like the May incident, I will have no choice but to move to a different hosting provider.
Update 5:27am CDT: Dreamhost has not updated the status since 11:00pm. Have submitted support ticket for a refund however the refund can only be applied to next year’s hosting bill. Don’t see that happening with a second downtime in 3 months of more than 6 hours.
Update 5:30pm CDT: the site is up after 18 hours of downtime.
